End of Year Book Survey 2022

Happy New Year folks! 2022, in the words of our dear late Queen, was somewhat of an 'annus horribilis' for me. As a result I'm ashamed to admit I've fallen waay behind with reading, and as a result blogging. I've really missed the bookish community and vow to do better this year. That said I have managed to scrape together some stats; some of the books I did manage to read last year were amazing and deserve to be shouted about! So without further ado, here's this year's End of Book Survey hosted as always by The Perpetual Page Turner.

Number Of Books You Read: 9

Number of Re-Reads: 0

Genre You Read The Most From: Murder Mystery

Best Book You Read In 2022? It has to be Book Lovers by Emily Henry. This one more than lived up to expectation and is my favourite of Emily Henry's books so far. I read the whole thing with a big smile on my face and already can't wait to read it again.

Most surprising (in a good way or bad way) book you read? After the Rain by Jo Watson. I enjoyed this one a lot more than I expected to!

Favorite new author you discovered in 2022? Laura Shepherd Robinson. Daughters of Night was everything I hoped it would be and more. I can't wait to read more from her!

Best book from a genre you don’t typically read/was out of your comfort zone? Let's Pretend by Laura Vaughan. Modern day thriller type books aren't usually my thing but I really enjoyed this.

Most unputdownable book of the year? The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. This series is SO addictive. I've just started The Final Gambit, the next book in the series, and I'm hoping it'll be the catalyst to get me back into reading again!

Book You Read In 2022 That You Would Be MOST Likely To Re-Read Next Year? Book Lovers. I'm actually planning a full reread of Emily Henry's books before Happy Place comes out!

Shortest & Longest Book You Read In 2022? The Christmas Murder Game / Daughters of Night

OTP OF THE YEAR (you will go down with this ship!) Charlie & Nora:  Book Lovers

Best 2022 debut you read? A Fatal Crossing by Tom Hindle. This was a fun read set in the Golden Age of Classic Crime, Looking forward to reading more from this author!

Most Vivid Setting You Read This Year? Daughters of Night. The author's research into her subject really shines through, making for an incredibly immersive read.

Book That Put A Smile On Your Face/Was The Most FUN To Read? No surprise here: Book Lovers

One Book You Didn’t Get To In 2022 But Will Be Your Number 1 Priority in 2023? Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead. I WILL get around to reading this eventually!

Book You Are Most Anticipating For 2021 (non-debut)? Happy Place by Emily Henry

Series Ending/A Sequel You Are Most Anticipating in 2023? The Brothers Hawthorne by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

One Thing You Hope To Accomplish Or Do In Your Reading/Blogging Life In 2023? Read more, blog more, live more. Hopefully you'll see a lot more of me next year!

So there we have it: my relatively uneventful year in reading! Please do link me to your End of Year posts in the comments - I'm on the lookout for recommendations to get me back on track this year!
