Blog Tour: The Dressmaker of Paris by Georgia Kaufmann
Today I’m excited to be taking part in the blog tour for the gorgeous The Dressmaker of Paris by Georgia Kaufmann. Thanks to Hodder Books for the review copy!
World renowned dressmaker Rosa has lived an incredible life. After fleeing as a teenager from the Nazis in Italy she discovers her talent and makes her mark everywhere she goes, from the fashion scene in Paris to the heat of Brazil and the excitement of New York. This is her story.
I loved this book, and once I got into it I couldn’t put it down. Rosa is a character that I grew to love, she had had a tough start and deservedly managed to turn her life around. The structure of the narrative is really clever - an older, wiser Rosa is getting ready for the most important meeting of her life (with whom we do not yet know), and each item of her toilette prompts a memory, a reminiscence, all of which tie together to form her story. Of course, it isn’t all glamour and fashion; Rosa experiences her fair share of love and loss, and faces some heart wrenching decisions. As we meet the people who shaped her life we get a full picture of who she really is - a determined, passionate, caring woman. The Dressmaker of Paris is a compelling, immersive, heartfelt read. Definitely one for historical fiction fans!
