REVIEW

I adored Laura's previous novel Our Stop, so I jumped at the chance to read The Love Square! The story follows Penny Bridge, historically unlucky in love , who suddenly finds herself spoilt for choice with three men wanting to date her! As if that's not complicated enough Penny has other challenges to face - as a cancer survivor Penny is facing up to resultant infertility issues, whilst also stepping in to run her uncle's busy and successful gastro-pub. There's a lot going on, but it's handled really well, and sensitively, where it needs to be. The three love interests are all distinctly different, and Penny's friends and family are a lovely bunch; I especially liked Charlie, her old friend and co-worker who was gender non-binary - something I've never encountered in fiction before. I knew fairly early on how the story would end, but if anything this made me enjoy it all the more. The Love Square is more than just a romance. It is also a story of family and friendship, a celebration of love in all of its forms.
