Review: All Summer With You by Beth Good

Happy publication day to All Summer With You by Beth Good!

Nursing a broken heart, Jennifer Bolitho retreats to Pixie Cottage. Her new landlord – a former soldier turned movie heartthrob – has grounds so large, she’s sure the little house nestled in the woods will bring her solitude.

Alex Delgardo also has reasons to hide away. Seeking refuge after a tragic incident turned his world upside down, he knows that the most important thing now is to care for his ailing family.

But when Jennifer enters their lives, that changes. Because, as they both learn, you can’t heal others until you learn to heal yourself…

----

Jennifer comes to the Pixie Cottage a broken woman. Reeling from a bad break up she intends to hide herself away from the world, immersing herself in her research work on Cornish folklore. He cottage resides on the estate of move star and action man Alex Delgardo, but she doesn't expect to ever actually see him..

Haunted by a trauma from his past, Alex is also hiding from the world. He retreats to his Cornish mansion with his family for some privacy and time away from the big screen.

Jennifer and Alex's worlds soon collide, and clash. Alex is an actor, used to putting on a front and masking his true feelings, impossible to read. But a man living with his ailing grandmother and her goats(!) can't be all bad, surely?

Jennifer was a character that was easy to root for. She'd been hard done by in the past and deserved a break. As for Alex.. He's not usually my type at all but I couldn't help but fall for him. A family man who loves his animals, a tough guy exterior hiding a soft, troubled heart. How could you not?

Cornwall, as always, comes into its own as far as setting is concerned. It never fails to deliver on atmosphere, and you get the sense that anything could happen as the hot summer wears on. I would've loved more of the Cornish folklore and tradition given Jennifer's profession, and I'll definitely be doing some research of my own after reading this!

All Summer with You is a novel of family, friendship, and finding love against the odds where you least expect it. It's a heartfelt and emotional read, but one that will leave you with a smile on your face. This was my first novel by Beth Good (or any of her pseudonyms), but I'm already on the lookout for more!
